What are veneers?

Veneers are custom-crafted shells made of porcelain, ceramic, or composite resin that Dr. Lee bonds to the front of your permanent teeth. You can get one or two veneers to correct mild imperfections,  but Dr. Lee usually recommends six to eight. This ensures you have a beautiful, confident smile.

If you regularly cover your mouth when laughing or speaking, veneers can boost your self-esteem and help you achieve a smile you’ve always dreamed of having.

What types of issues can veneers correct?

Veneers improve the appearance of your teeth and give you a brighter, more attractive smile. Dr. Lee regularly uses veneers to correct:

  • Broken teeth
  • Chipped teeth
  • Severe discoloration
  • Stains that don’t respond to teeth whitening
  • Pointed teeth
  • Shorter-than-average teeth
  • Unusually shaped teeth

Dr. Lee also uses veneers to mask gaps or spaces between your teeth.

What does getting veneers involve?

Getting veneers begins with an in-office consultation. During this appointment, Dr. Lee conducts an oral exam and asks you about your goals for treatment. He also takes X-rays to get a closer look at your tooth roots and to ensure there’s no infection present.

If your teeth are healthy, he moves forward with treatment and carefully shaves a thin layer of enamel from your teeth that will receive veneers. Next, he takes impressions of your teeth and sends your impressions to a laboratory that manufactures your custom porcelain shells.

A week or two later, you return to Dr. Lee’s office for the application of your veneers. Before placing your veneers, Dr. Lee administers a local anesthetic to ensure your comfort. Next, he lines up your veneers with your permanent teeth and bonds them in place. The treatment process takes about 90 minutes, and you leave with a beautiful, brilliant smile.

Dr. Lee’s patients receive regular compliments on their beautiful teeth. As a result, many of them refer their friends and family to his practice.

How long do veneers last?

Veneers don’t last forever, but with proper care, they’ll remain strong and damage-free for 7-10  years at a time. To keep your veneers free of stains, Dr. Lee recommends brushing and flossing regularly, quitting the use of tobacco, and avoiding dark-colored beverages like coffee, red wine, and colas.
